Colonel (Retired) Christopher K. Kennedy enlisted in the U.S. Army in November 1990, and upon graduation from the U.S. Army Officer Candidate School, was commissioned an Armor Officer on May 31, 1991. His first duty assignment was as an M1A1 Tank Platoon Leader in the 4th Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade, 1st Armored Division at Friedberg, Germany. He served for over 30 years and commanded in Armor and Cavalry formations from Company through Brigade. He deployed to Iraq from 2003-2004, 2005-2006, and finally from 2009-2010 as a Cavalry Squadron Commander in 3rd Infantry Division. His final command was commander of the 4th Cavalry Brigade at Fort Knox from 2014-2016.
Colonel Kennedy is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College (Resident Course), the U. S. Army Command & General Staff Officer’s Course (Resident Course), the Armor Officer’s Advanced Course, the Battalion Maintenance Officer’s Course, the Armor Officer’s Basic Course, and the Airborne School.
His military awards include the Distinguished Service Medal, 3 X Legions of Merit, 3 X Bronze Star Medals, 7 X Army Meritorious Service Medals, 5 X Army Commendation Medals, 2 X Army Achievement Medals, 2 X National Defense Service Medal, 3 X Iraq Campaign Medals, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, 4 X Overseas Service Ribbons, the Army Staff Badge, the Combat Action Badge, and the Parachutist Badge.
Colonel Kennedy was inducted into the Officer Candidate School Hall of Fame in 2020. He is a member of the Order of Saint George Silver Medal, the Order of Saint Maurice, the Horatio Gates Bronze Medal, and is recognized as a distinguished member of the 3d Cavalry Regiment. He retired from Active Duty in February of 2021.
