Garry Fender began his career with the City of Erlanger as a volunteer EMT with the Erlanger Rescue Squad in the 80’s. In December 1992, the Erlanger Rescue Squad and the Erlanger Fire Department merged as Erlanger Fire/EMS. Garry, now a Part Time EMT, was a part of this merge. His partner described him as a good EMT, good to work with, and a good fellow. Garry retired as a Lieutenant with Fire/EMS in 1992.
Garry’s caring nature did not stop with people though. He loved animals and worked with the Kenton County Dog Authority and Kenton County Animal Control for over 15 years as a Dog Warden.
Outside of work, Garry enjoyed gardening, watching tv, and cheered on the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals. He loved his family that he shared with his wife of 33 years. They had 6 children and 18 grandchildren together.
On August 6, 2023, Garry passed away with his family by his side. The City of Erlanger would like to send our condolences to the Fender family. We will forever be grateful for his service to our community.
