The City of Erlanger and Kenton County provide a competitive tax structure to give your business the reliable city services and amenities you demand, while keeping more of your hard-earned money in your pocket to invest back into your business.

PAYROLL TAX

Every employer within the City that withholds payroll tax is required to withhold 1.5% on all compensation paid to their employees and remit the amount withheld to Kenton County on a quarterly basis. All businesses in Erlanger must also pay Kenton County occupational license tax (fee) which is 0.7097% of the first $25,000 and 0.1097% of payments between $25,000 and the social security wage cap (adjusted annually) for all wages and compensation paid or payable in the county for work done or services performed or rendered in the county by every resident and nonresident who is an employee.

NET PROFITS TAX

The Occupational License Tax is assessed at 0.75% of the taxable gross receipts from business conducted in the city by a resident or non-resident business or $50, whichever is greater. This tax is capped at $40,000 and payable to Kenton County on an annual basis. In addition to the City of Erlanger gross, the Kenton County occupational license tax (fee) shall be measured by 0.7097% of the first $37,500 and 0.1097% of net profit between $37,500 and the social security wage cap (adjusted annually) for the net profit from business conducted in the county by a resident or nonresident business entity.
