Floyd Smith was a devoted family man. He was a great storyteller and had a good sense of humor. He was born in 1928 in Erlanger, KY. He attended St. Cecelia and St. Henry grade schools and Lloyd High School. He left school after his junior year, but was very proud to acquire his G.E.D. at the age of 59 years old.
In the early 1950’s, Floyd married Doris McClurg. In 1952, he was drafted in the US Army where he served for two years, spending most of that time in Korea. At that time, he was also blessed with a daughter, Beverly, born while Floyd was in Korea. Floyd was a devoted father.
After serving in the military, he worked at American Airlines as a ticket agent and later in the Flight Operations Department until his retirement in 1983.
In the early 1980’s, Floyd married Wilma Shockey. They enjoyed traveling together, gardening, and spending time with family. Floyd was very involved in community service and enjoyed supporting local sports teams. He was active in the Erlanger Lions Club for over 25 years. He remained active and strong-spirited until the end of his life in 2007.
