Erlanger Historical
Depot Museum

A RICH HISTORY

The train depot in Erlanger was built on the Southern Railroad line in 1877, which brought large amounts of people and commerce to the area, eventually forming the vibrant community that is Erlanger today. The train depot was set to be demolished at its original location in 1989, but in 1990 the City and the Erlanger Historical Society instead chose to move it to its current location, renovate it, and preserve its history through establishing a museum.

The Erlanger depot building is the only remaining wooden structure from the original Southern Railroad between Cincinnati and Chattanooga today. The depot has since been renovated and recently re-opened in 2024. It continues to operate as a historical museum, which can be visited on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Located in the Erlanger Railroad Depot Park, the Erlanger Historical Depot Museum seeks to gather and enrich the Erlanger community through preserving and exhibiting the city’s history and local artifacts. The majority of the museum’s collection comes from community donations and can be seen on display through rotating exhibits throughout the year.
