EDWARD HOFFMAN

US ARMY SRG E5

In 1967, 26 young Northern Kentucky men were drafted into the United States Army. Among them was Edward Hoffman. Ed and the others made their way to Ft. Knox, Kentucky. Eight weeks later and on August 4, 1967, Company A, 13th Battalion, 4th Training Brigade graduated from basic training.

After graduation, each of the draftees received their next orders. Ed was sent to Germany as a mechanic. His wife Jan joined him, making their home on the U.S. Army base in Frankfurt am Main. While stationed there, Ed and Jan welcomed their first son, Gary in December, 1968.

While serving in the Army, Ed earned the designation of Sergeant E-5 before returning home to Northern Kentucky.
