ERIC D. ROLF

us aIR FORCE SGT

I served in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970; basic training and technical school were in Amarillo, TX. When tech school was completed, I was assigned to the 334th Tactical Fighter Squadron at Seymour Johnson AFB in Goldsboro, NC to work on the F-4D Phantom Fighter jet.

In January 1968, our squadron was deployed immediately to South Korea due to the North Koreans capturing the USS Pueblo Naval ship. I spent seven months in Korea for this “temporary” deployment.

In September 1969, I was transferred to 469th Tactical Fighter Squadron in Korat, Thailand to participate in air support for the Vietnam conflict. One highlight of this deployment was having the opportunity to watch one of the very last CSO Christmas shows featuring Bob Hope. It was great entertainment and enjoyed by all.

I was fortunate to serve the full four years with my twin brother, Philip.

I’ve lived in Erlanger for the last 45 years. Erlanger has been a great place to live and bring up our children.
