The meeting of the Urban Forest Commission (UFC) was called to order by Johnna Herrmann at the Erlanger Public Works facility on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at 4pm.
Meeting Minutes – January Meeting
The February 19th meeting minutes were approved by Todd Hermann and Vicki Kyle.
Discussion
- Kenny Allen reported planting several new trees around the dog park. The Japanese Zelkova
(Zelkova serrata ‘Musashino) is a fast-growing, deciduous tree with a tight, columnar form (45-50
ft tall, 12-15 ft wide), making it ideal for narrow streetscapes and urban spaces. It is
drought-tolerant, resistant to elm leaf beetle, and features yellow-red tall color - Kevin Quinn reviewed the progress of the dog park and the bicycle pump track and jump park.
- Future meeting dates were discussed. The next meeting will be in July. The fall Arbor Day event
will be in October. - Arbor Day tree seedlings (tulip, pin oak, and red maple) will be distributed by UF and PW today.
- Leftover seedlings will also be distributed at the Grater’s on the Glades event on April 22, at the
Glades Walking Trails.
UFC Upcoming Meetings
- May 21 meeting will be cancelled
- June 18 meeting will be cancelled.
- Next meeting: Thursday, July 16 at 4:00 p.m.
