REGULAR MEETING
ERLANGER CITY COUNCIL
June 2, 2026
Mayor Jessica Fette called the regular meeting of the Erlanger City Council to order in the City of Erlanger Council Chambers at 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 2, 2026.
Brian Nevins with the Calvary Chapel of Northern Kentucky gave the invocation.
Members of City Council and citizens pledged allegiance to the flag.
The following Members of City Council were present: Chris Farmer, Michele Fields, Tyson Hermes, Jennifer Jasper-Lucas, Diana Niceley, Rebecca Reckers, Renee Skidmore, and Renee Wilson. Council Member Tom Cahill was not present.
Also present were: Mayor Jessica Fette, City Clerk Sherry Hoffman, Director of Economic Development/Assistant CAO Nick Eads, and City Attorney Jack Gatlin.
MEETING MINUTES – M/S, Hermes-Reckers, to add “the meeting drew a large turnout with most attendees indicating their opposition to the proposed reconfiguration plans” to the May 5, 2026 special council meeting minutes held at 6:00 p.m. for the Dixie Highway Reconfiguration. All ayes, no nays, motion carried.
M/S, Reckers-Farmer, that the minutes from the special council meeting held on May 5, 2026 at 5:30 p.m., the amended minutes for the special council meeting held on May 5, 2026 at 6:00 p.m., and the minutes from the special meeting held on May 19, 2026 be approved as written. All ayes, no nays, motion carried.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA – M/S, Farmer-Wilson, to approve the agenda as presented. All ayes, no nays, motion carried.
SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS – The Honor Guard presentation was changed to July 7, 2026.
Maxwell Robbins was announced as the City of Erlanger’s 2026 post secondary education scholarship recipient. Mayor Fette presented Mr. Robbins with a Key to the City and proclaimed June 4, 2026 as Maxwell Robbins Day in the City of Erlanger.
Mr. Eads opened the Municipal Road Aid Funding presentation. The following was discussed:
- Apportionment of Funds – The City would receive $375,964.00 from the Commonwealth of Kentucky for Fiscal Year 2027.
- Projects – A list of street projects, their description, and budgeted amounts were provided.
- Public Comment – There were no comments from the public.
Mr. Eads closed the presentation.
CITIZENS/PUBLIC COMMENTS – The following addressed Mayor and City Council:
- Corine Pitts – She was against the mayor being a full-time position.
- Bill Woodside – A street creep issue had affected his residence; he requested a street replacement.
- Georgette Nordloh – She reported possible street creep issues for her residence.
MAYOR’S REPORT – Mayor Fette reported she composed a letter to Bob Yeager with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Senator McDaniel, Representative Doan, Representative Moser, Kenton County Judge Executive Knochelman, City of Elsmere Mayor Lenhof, and City of Florence Mayor Aubuchon regarding Erlanger’s disagreement with the Dixie Highway reconfiguration plan.
CITY ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT – Mr. Eads reported on the following:
- Airheads celebrated their 40th birthday.
- On May 16, 2026, the Girl Scouts held their ribbon-cutting ceremony.
- Nature Med would open on June 5, 2026.
- Depot Days kicked off on this date.
- Erlanger recipients of the NKY Chamber of Commerce’s Outstanding Women of the Year were Karen Zengel with St. Vincent DePaul, Erlanger and Jessica Fette, Mayor of Erlanger.
CITY ATTORNEY’S REPORT – Mr. Gatlin had nothing further to report.
REPORT ON CAPITAL PROJECTS AND REPORTS FROM DEPARTMENT HEADS – Mr. Eads had nothing further to report.
REPORTS OF TASK FORCES – None
BIDS – None
UNFINISHED BUSINESS – Mr. Hermes requested that the mayoral pay ordinance be added to the June caucus agenda. Ms. Niceley asked to include council pay.
Ms. Reckers asked that the salary survey be sent to everyone.
Ms. Fields requested that the front yard fencing in the yards of homes for autistic homes be added to the June caucus agenda for further discussion.
NEW BUSINESS – Ms. Jasper-Lucas reported on the following:
- She requested a presentation for street safety at the July caucus meeting.
- She requested discussion on changes to the rules and procedures for meetings of city council legislation at the June caucus meeting. She advised she would bring proposed changes to the meeting.
- She addressed a memo she received from Mayor Fette regarding Ms. Jasper-Lucas’ communication with city staff. She also read a list of questions or requests that she asked Mayor Fette to respond to in writing.
- She requested discussing a parking issue on Jacqueline Drive at the June caucus meeting after Eleanor Courtney addressed Mayor and Council on this issue; Ms. Courtney also expressed her concern for the children playing in the streets and people not stopping at the stop signs; Mayor Fette directed Ms. Courtney to speak with Police Lieutenant Kim Klare who was present at the meeting.
LEGISLATION – Mr. Gatlin read Municipal Order No. 06-02-26-01 making the written determinations required by KRS 82.083 for the sale or other disposition of property owned by the City. M/S, Reckers-Farmer, to adopt the municipal order as written. All ayes, no nays, motion carried.
Mr. Gatlin read Municipal Order No. 06-02-26-02 approving the Mayor’s re-appointment of Johnna Herrmann as a member of the Kenton County Joint Code Enforcement Board. M/S, Wilson-Hermes, to adopt the municipal order as written. All ayes, no nays, motion carried.
Mr. Gatlin read Resolution No. 06-02-26-01 adopting and approving the execution of a Municipal Road Aid Co-op Program Contract between the Incorporated City and the Commonwealth of Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Department of Rural and Municipal Aid for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026, as provided in the Kentucky Revised Statutes and accepting all streets referred to therein as being streets which are a part of the Incorporated City. M/S, Reckers-Fields, to adopt the resolution as written. All ayes, no nays, motion carried.
ANNOUNCEMENTS – Ms. Niceley reported the City of Erlanger would host the Mayor’s Group meeting on June 20, 2026.
