Mr. Arnett was born in 1895, and received a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Kentucky and a master’s degree from Columbia University before enlisting in the Army. He was assigned to the Remount Corp. before being sent to Europe. After the war he stayed in Europe selling the horses and mules that had been brought overseas from the United States. When he returned, he taught school in a one room school in Hendricks and later served as a principal in Jenkins, Kentucky. He came to Erlanger as a principal in Elsmere Schools and later served as principal of Lloyd High School. He was credited with merging both schools into one district by Cincinnati Post. He was later featured in a Life Magazine article because of the smooth transition of integrating the schools. He was a member of the Erlanger Baptist Church, The Good Faith Masonic Lodge, is a past president of Erlanger Rotary Club, along with serving as a Kentucky Colonel and a Boy Scout leader. Erlanger Elementary is named after him. He passed away in May of 1989.
