REGULAR MEETING
ERLANGER CITY COUNCIL
April 7, 2026
Mayor Jessica Fette called the regular meeting of the Erlanger City Council to order in the City of Erlanger Council Chambers at 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
Brian Nevins with the Calvary Chapel of Northern Kentucky gave the invocation.
Members of City Council and citizens pledged allegiance to the flag.
The following Members of City Council were present: Tom Cahill, Chris Farmer, Michele Fields, Tyson Hermes, Jennifer Jasper-Lucas, Diana Niceley, Renee Skidmore, and Renee Wilson. Council Member Rebecca Reckers was not present.
Also present were: Mayor Jessica Fette, City Clerk Sherry Hoffman, Director of Economic Development/Assistant CAO Nick Eads, and City Attorney Jack Gatlin.
MEETING MINUTES – M/S, Farmer-Wilson, that the minutes from the regular council meeting held on March 3, 2026 be approved as written. All ayes, no nays, motion carried.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA – M/S, Jasper Lucas-Niceley, to remove legislative item number 1, Mayoral Pay, from the agenda due to lack of time to review. Discussion followed. Five ayes (Cahill, Skidmore, Jasper-Lucas, Niceley, Fields), three nays (Hermes, Farmer, Wilson), motion carried.
M/S, Jasper Lucas-Niceley, to approve the agenda as amended. Seven ayes (Cahill, Farmer, Fields, Jasper-Lucas, Niceley, Skidmore, Wilson), one nay (Hermes), motion carried.
SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS – Lauryn Groce introduced representatives from Boone-Kenton Lumber for the Business Spotlight. Mr. Eads presented a video highlighting their business.
Mr. Eads presented an “Opening Day” video produced by Channel 12 News highlighting Erlanger resident Steve Horton and the Cincinnati Reds memorabilia he loaned to the Depot Museum, as well as Museum Attendant Melissa Rogers.
CITIZENS/PUBLIC COMMENTS – The following addressed Mayor and City Council:
- Corine Pitts – Against the mayor pay increase, was going to request the ordinance be withdrawn
MAYOR’S REPORT – Mayor Fette reported on the following:
- Promotions
- Michael Clark was appointed as the interim Assistant Police Chief.
- Frank Santee was promoted to Fire/EMS Shift Captain.
- Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) Dixie Reconfiguration Update – The Mayor stated it was important for the public to attend the May 5, 2026 meeting starting at 6:00 p.m.
- Eons Park Update – Erlanger was included in the State’s budget with $1 million allocated for Eons Park.
- Open Records Request Process – Due to the demand, changes were made to how the City processes requests received by the Administration Department and reinforcements were called in to assist with these changes.
CITY ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT – Mr. Eads reported on the following:
- FY27 Budget – Staff accelerated the budget schedule and could provide it by April 17, 2026.
- 2026 State Legislative Session – The General Assembly had concluded the 2026 legislative session.
- Economic Development Report – The report was sent out to Council.
CITY ATTORNEY’S REPORT – Mr. Gatlin reported on the following:
- Open Records Requests – He advised his office taking on this responsibility would be an easy transition as he has assisted the City Clerk with open records requests over the years and that with the increasing numbers, this transition would alleviate the workload on City staff.
REPORT ON CAPITAL PROJECTS AND REPORTS FROM DEPARTMENT HEADS – Mr. Quinn reported updates on the following projects:
- Road Repairs
- Sidewalk Repairs and Replacements
- Park Projects
- Eons Park.
REPORTS OF TASK FORCES –
- Open Records – Mr. Hermes announced the task force met in March with good attendance; the April meeting was postponed.
BIDS – Mr. Eads reported on the following bids:
- Electronic Document Management (Copier) – The bid was awarded to ProSource.
- Cintonya Drive Mill and Overlay – The bid was awarded to Pavement Partners Cincinnati, DBA Cincinnati Asphalt.
- Surplus Property – The City received a total of $16,103.75 for surplus items sold via an online auction.
- Eons Park Public Works and Police Building – The bid was awarded to Radius Construction.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS – None
NEW BUSINESS – Ms. Fields requested that the City consider allowing fencing in the front yards of homes for autistic children. Mr. Eads was asked to review the City’s zoning regulations and contact Planning and Development Services (PDS) of Kenton County regarding the matter.
Mr. Hermes requested that the Mayoral Pay ordinance be added to the May council meeting agenda.
