Public Works Monthly Report April 2026

Programs

Mowing

The Public Works team members started mowing the City’s parks and right of ways on April 6th. A crew of 4 team members are scheduled to cut all the parks and right of ways every week. PW crews have worked 390 man hours to keep our parks and streets looking exceptional.

Street Light Audit

The PW’s department conducted its quarterly street light audit this month. To accurately identify any outages or malfunctions like flickering lights, this audit requires overnight work. The April audit identified a total of 17 street lights needing attention, with 9 issues reported to Duke Energy and 8 to Owen Electric.

APWA Snow Conference: April 25th – 29th

Team members that attended this conference had the opportunity to participate in various classes and seminars led by experiences snow and ice professionals. They were able to learn about the latest and most effective strategies for managing winter weather. Additionally, the exhibit floor provided a chance to explore a wide range of vendors and discover the newest winter maintenance solutions available.

Capital Projects

Street Reconstruction Projects

The Contractor is still working on Locust Street, the full depth repairs have been completed, the storm sewer work is complete, the pull off parking spaces for the park is complete on the Locust Street side and the Contractor has started working on apron replacements where needed.

The Narrows Road street and sidewalk project is underway. Most of the storm sewer work is completed and the Contractor has started pouring sidewalk, starting at Country Road and working back towards Brightleaf Boulevard.

Cintoya Drive will be getting a mill and overlay. The contract was awarded to Cincinnati Asphalt and they have slated mid May for a start date.

Concord Drive in nearing completion with an estimated completion date of May 8th.

Sidewalk Replacement Program

The contractor is still working in the Cherry Hill subdivision, currently working on Peach Tree Lane, where they will finish it off in the next few weeks, which will complete the program for this fiscal year.

Parks

Cincinnati Asphalt was awarded a project at Sherbourne Park to construct a new parking lot. The Contractor is slated to start in mid May with a completion date of mid June.

Silverlake Park is getting a new black 4-board horse fence, a new vinyl privacy fence, and a new black coated fence around the tennis courts. The contractor who was awarded the project is S&S Fence and they have a mid May start date.

Eons Dog Park

Electrical & Lighting: The electricity has been installed. Lights should be installed within the next two weeks. Painting should commence and be completed by May 8th. Boulder Seat Walls: This has been completed Equipment & Facilities: Radius Construction should start groundwork for maintenance building by the end of May. Submittals should be received soon.

EONS Bike Park

Site Preparation: Jumpline is almost completed and ready to be paved. Pump track is starting to take shape. Beginner skills course should commence following completion of jumpline and pump track. Equipment: The container’s mural is almost complete and ready to be moved in to place.

EONS Overlook

Cable Safety Railing: Lagrand Fence Contractor won the bid for the safety fence.Seat Wall: Boulders have been delivered. Site preparation should start by the middle of May. Timber & Swing: Materials have been delivered. Fabrication and installation have been postponed but expected to be completed by the end of July.
