PROGRAMS
Mowing
The Public Works team members continue mowing the City’s parks and right of ways. A crew of 4 team members are scheduled to hours to keep our parks and streets looking cut all the parks and right of ways every week. PW crews have worked 376 man exceptional.
Mulching
The PW Department annually has all beds and tree rings mulched prior to Memorial Day. The department does a majority of the mulching in house and utilizes contractors to mulch six locations throughout the City. This year Merkle Lawn Care received the bid for the contracted mulching. All mulching has been completed for this year.
Erlanger Salutes
The Erlanger Salutes Banner Program was created for the community to recognize and honor individuals on active duty, living, retired, and deceased service personnel by displaying the honoree’s photo, name, rank, and armed service branch on a banner to be flown from utility poles throughout the City of Erlanger. All banners are displayed with an American flag. Banners will be displayed on Commonwealth Avenue, from Baker Street to Dixie Highway, and on Dixie Highway within Erlanger city limits. When this program started we had 13 honorees. This year, team members hung 98 banners.
CAPITAL PROJECTS
Street Reconstruction Projects
The Locust Street project is nearing completion. All the concrete work such as aprons, curbs, and ADA ramps are complete. The next step is for the contractor to mill the rest of the street and put a new layer of asphalt down. This should be completed by the second week of June, weather dependent
The Narrows Road street and sidewalk project is ongoing. The sidewalk is finished from Country Road down to Delphi Drive. The
Contractor is still working on the rest of the sidewalk and the full depth repairs in the street, to be followed by a new layer of asphalt. The Contractor will need to have two different road closures in the next couple of weeks in order to safely continue on the project. The first closure will be on June 1st and 2nd on Narrows Road between Delphi Drive and Mesa Drive to install a new storm sewer pipe and a water quality manhole across Narrows Road. The second closure will start on June 4th and will last about two weeks at the intersection of Delphi Drive and Carriage Hill Drive to install a water retention area under the street.
Sidewalk Replacement Program
The contractor is finished with this fiscal years sidewalk program.
Parks
The Contractor building the parking lot at Sherbourne Park has applied the asphalt layer and has striped the parking stalls. They need to do some grade work, add guard rail, and seed and straw the affected areas for the project will be completed.
The Silverlake Park fence project has started. The Contractor has removed the old fence around the tennis courts and has done some vegetation removal along the property lines in preparation for the new fence.
Eons Dog Park
Electrical & Lighting: Lighting has been completed, waiting on inspection. Fountains should be installed by the end of May. Sod is on schedule to be installed the weeks of June 1st & June 8th.
Equipment & Facilities: Radius Construction should start groundwork for the maintenance building by the 2nd week of June. Submittals have been received and are pending approval.
EONS Bike Park
Site Preparation: Paving should be completed for the pumpline by the end of May. Pump track is starting to take shape. Beginner skills course should commence following completion of jumpline and pump track. Equipment: The container and bridge ramp have been partially built. The mural should be completed by June 14th.
EONS Overlook
Safety Railing Fence construction has commenced. Contractor is waiting on the cable wires to be delivered to complete the project.
