Mayor Jessica Fette called the caucus meeting of the Erlanger City Council to order in the City of Erlanger Council Chambers at 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
The following Members of City Council were present: Tom Cahill, Chris Farmer, Michele Fields, Tyson Hermes, Jennifer Jasper-Lucas, Diana Niceley, Rebecca Reckers, Renee Skidmore, and Renee Wilson.
Also present were: Mayor Jessica Fette, City Administrator Mark Collier, City Clerk Sherry Hoffman, and Attorney Avery Dietz.
CAUCUS DISCUSSIONS
US 25 (Dixie Highway) Reconfiguration
- Discussion
- The alteration of Dixie Highway from Commonwealth Avenue to Turfway Road, including the elimination of one northbound lane and one southbound lane and the placement of a continual center turning lane.
- Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC), Bob Yeager – KYTC was placing the project on hold to allow additional meetings with the cities to further discuss safety improvements for this section of Dixie Highway.
- Kentucky Representative, Steve Doan – He submitted a Bill request that would require KYTC to notify cities of any upcoming projects.
- Florence Mayor, Julie Aubuchon – She encouraged further communication on the project.
- Elsmere Mayor, Marty Lenhof – He requested that all share holders be involved throughout the process and to be cognizant of further safety issues.
- Erlanger Mayor, Jessica Fette – She identified fifteen bus stops, nineteen instances where a left turn did not have a dedicated turn lane, and eighteen businesses affected by the proposed reconfiguration.
- The alteration of Dixie Highway from Commonwealth Avenue to Turfway Road, including the elimination of one northbound lane and one southbound lane and the placement of a continual center turning lane.
- City Council Comments – Council members Ms. Jasper-Lucas, Ms. Niceley, and Ms. Fields addressed Mr. Yeager. He confirmed the following: the resurfacing of Dixie Highway would be on hold as well, the traffic counts were conducted in 2025, and the project would change the timing of the traffic lights.
