ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NUMBER 2540 AS CODIFIED IN SECTION 31.02 OF THE ERLANGER CODE OF ORDINANCES RELATED TO INCREASING THE MAYOR’S COMPENSATION
WHEREAS, other comparable cities pay their mayor an average of over $45,000 and;
WHEREAS, Erlanger is growing quickly and the demands of the role of Mayor will likely require a full-time Mayor in the future, and;
WHEREAS, this position requires someone who has an understanding of local government operations and is capable of running a large organization including Public Works, Police, Fire/EMS, and General Government, and;
WHEREAS, this person is further required to have executive leadership qualities and understanding of budgets, balance sheets, funds, revenue sources, county services, local utilities, and community organizations, and:
WHEREAS, all of these qualities justify pay of more than $15,000 per year, and;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF ERLANGER, IN KENTON COUNTY, KENTUCKY, AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1.0
31.02 COMPENSATION OF ELECTED OFFICERS.
(A) The compensation of the Mayor of the city is hereby established at the sum of [$15,000] $27,000 per year, payable in 12 equal monthly installments.
(B) The compensation of each member of the City Council is hereby established at the sum of $4,468.20 per year, payable in equal monthly installments.
Section 2.0
The provisions of this ordinance are severable; and the invalidity of any provision of this ordinance shall not affect the validity of any other provision thereof; and such other provisions shall remain in full force and effect if they remain valid in the absence of those provisions determined to be invalid.Section 3.0 All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 4.0
This ordinance shall be effective as soon as possible according to law.
Section 5.0 – Publication
This ordinance shall be published in summary pursuant to K.R.S. 83A.060 (9).
