Post Secondary Education Scholarship

Applications Due by Friday, March 6, 2026

Established by ordinance on January 15, 2002, the City of Erlanger’s Post Secondary Education Scholarship supports Erlanger residents who graduate from an accredited high school or homeschool in Northern Kentucky.

The idea was brought forward on December 4, 2001, by Councilmembers Vicki Kyle and Bill Howard, alongside Mayor Otto. As a former teacher and longtime Erlanger resident, Vicki Kyle believed the scholarship would encourage local youth who were proud to live in Erlanger and felt passionate about furthering their education to apply.

The first scholarship was awarded in 2003 to Dixie Heights High School graduate Jessica LaCorte, later honored with “Jessica LaCorte Day.” After graduating from Northern Kentucky University, she went on to serve as an Erlanger Council Member from 2016-2018. She was elected Mayor in 2018 and is now known to the City of Erlanger as Mayor Jessica Fette.

Since 2003, Erlanger has awarded 22 scholarships. The name of the scholarship has been changed over the years, such as Friendship City Scholarship and Community Achievement Scholarship. Winners are recognized at city council meetings every year in the spring. The recipient of the previous year is invited to introduce and present a certificate to the recipient for the current year. The scholarship winner is also recognized with a proclaimed date in their name.

The goal of the Post Secondary Education Scholarship is to shape futures and strengthen our community. Erlanger students are encouraged to apply and take the next step in becoming the leaders who will give back, grow our city, and carry the legacy of those that came before them forward.
