Ruey A. Newsom II was branched as a military intelligence officer in the US Army. He served on active duty as a member of the 1st Armored Division in Europe with multiple deployments in the former Balkans in support of the United Nations and NATO. He continued to serve in the US Army Reserves with combat duty in Kuwait and Iraq ultimately retiring after 26+ years of service.
