Wilbur R. Houston M.D. (1902-1983) served his country as a Major in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, South Pacific Theatre (1943-1945). Dr. Houston cared for generations of Erlanger families at his medical practice on Dixie Highway (1934-1966). A community leader, Dr. Houston served as President of the Campbell-Kenton Medical Society (1963) and President of the Erlanger Rotary Club. As Director of Student Health and team physician at Eastern Kentucky University (1966-1973), Dr. Houston is credited with pioneering Sports Medicine delivering a seminar titled “The Medical Aspects of Sports” in March, 1972. Dr. Houston and family were longtime members of the Erlanger Christian Church.
