Regulations Governing Inspection of the Public Records of the City of Erlanger

KRS 61.870-61.884

Pursuant to KRS 61.872, the public records of the City of Erlanger are open for inspection by any resident of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, except as otherwise provided by KRS 61.870 to 61.884, and suitable facilities shall be made for the exercise of this right. No resident of the Commonwealth shall remove original copies of public records from the offices of the City of Erlanger without the written permission of the official custodian of record, City Clerk Sherry Hoffman, whose physical address is 505 Commonwealth Avenue, Erlanger, KY 41018 and email address is sherry.hoffman@cityoferlanger.com. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., excluding holidays.

Requests for records can be made electronically through the City’s website at www.erlangerky.gov, via email at sherry.hoffman@cityoferlanger.com, in person or through the mail at 505 Commonwealth Avenue, Erlanger, KY 41018, or by facsimile at 859-727-7944. The City uses the open records request form provided by the Kentucky Attorney General.

Requestors wishing to inspect or receive copies of records shall be notified of the availability of the records, in writing, no later than five (5) business days after the request is received. This includes the unavailability of records.

Records provided electronically will not require a payment. Copies of written materials shall be furnished to any person requesting copies for a fee of $.10 per page. Copies of non-written records (CDs) shall be furnished for a fee of equal to the actual cost of producing the copies and/or CD.

Applications requesting copies of public records for a commercial purpose (KRS 61.874) shall complete a form provided by the City stating the purpose for which the records shall be used, and shall be required to enter into a contract with the City. The contract shall state the fee required by the City to produce copies of the commercial purpose record.
