The City of Erlanger has named Perfetti Van Melle, the parent company of Airheads, Mentos, and Chupa Chups, the June Business Spotlight.
Perfetti Van Melle was established in March 2001 when Perfetti Spa acquired Van Melle, creating the world’s third-largest global confectionery company. With regard to one of their most famous candies, Airheads, Casey Kroger, Perfetti Van Melle’s Public Relations Communications Manager, stated that, “Airheads was born in Erlanger and (Erlanger) is still to this day the core manufacturing facility for this candy.”
Perfetti Van Melle has invested more than $80,000,000 in the past decade into the Northern Kentucky region, and continues to invest due to the strong community, talent, and infrastructure available.
Airheads celebrated their 40th birthday this year with a special commemoration from Mayor Jessica Fette honoring their momentous occasion and commitment to the City of Erlanger.
