PROGRAMS
Mowing:
The Public Works team members continue mowing the City’s parks and right of ways. A crew of 4 team members are scheduled to cut all the parks and right of ways every week. PW crews have worked 520 man hours to keep our parks and streets looking exceptional.
Special Projects:
The Public Works team tackled the installation of sod at Eons Dog Park. This was an all hands on deck project that was orchestrated from delivery to installation to setting up sprinklers all at the same time.
Choke Points:
The Public Works Department has choke points throughout the city that are checked for debris before and after a substantial rainfall to prevent flooding issues. PW’s refer to these areas as the “Nasty Nine”. The Nasty Nine were checked 1 time utilizing 5 man hours to do so.
CAPITAL PROJECTS
Street Reconstruction Projects:
The Locust Street project is complete. This project saw full depth repairs to fix subgrade problems, new curbs, a pull off parking area for Locust Street Park, and a new layer of asphalt.
The Narrows Road street and sidewalk project is nearing completion. All concrete work is completed. The milling of the old asphalt and a new layer of asphalt was completed. Small amounts of restoration and clean up is all that remains to finish the project.
Parks:
The Sherbourne Park parking lot is complete. This addition of 5 standard parking spaces and one handicap space is a great addition to this park.
The Silverlake Park fence project is complete. New 4 board horse fence was installed at the entrance, new privacy fence was added and the tennis courts got a new black coated fence. This project raised the park to another level of excellence.
Eons Dog Park
Construction of the dog park is nearing completion. To ensure the long-term health of the grass, we are allowing additional time for the sod to fully establish. The grand opening is scheduled for July 9, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Eons Bike Park
The bike park project is nearing completion. While substantial progress has been made, several key milestones remain before the project is finalized and ready for public use.
Eons Maintenance Building
Project progress on the maintenance building has been impacted by challenging site topography. Due to the building’s location being at the bottom of a steep slope, additional foundation engineering and soil stabilization measures may be required. We are currently partnering with UES, a geotechnical engineering firm, to review potential solutions.
Eons Overlook
The safety railing fence was completed. Public Works has started to install the boulder seat wall. Installation will be completed before the end of July.
Locust Street Park
Bids for Phase 1 were received on June 25, 2026. Viox & Viox is currently reviewing the submissions and will provide a recommendation for contractor selection.
